i'm a bit confused by what you mean.

okay so I'm going to edit my profile and I hit change user name because I thought you cood do it once more but then it says that you have already changed your username the maximum number of times so I was thinking that you cood just take that option off all non premium users that haven't changed the user name yet get it now.

Wait a sec... So you mean, non-premium members could change their name as much as they wanted? That would be cool!

I had a similar thought, that non-premium members could change it once a year.

I think she ment that when somebody use all the changes they are allowed that the change username should disapear because it is not usefull any more. This is the impression i got.

That's correct Nikos. The user was asking that the link vanish from the profile if all the name changes had been used. Not that users should have unlimited numbers of name changes. That would just be rediculous.

Dan.

yeah it would. i think limiting it is good. less confusion and i agree with that idea, that way, people won't be tempted to keep hitting the link once their change is up.

Post 11 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 10-Feb-2007 10:20:20

I agree also. Take the link off if it has been used its max time.

ferst I'm a he and I'm also glad you guys agree with me.

Taking the link off might convince some users that it's impossible to ever change their username, which is untrue. You can always become premium which gives you another chance to change your username.

Post 14 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 11-Feb-2007 14:02:30

yeah, I agree with Chris, but I suppose there can be a way to get the link back on when we offer another username change?

Post 15 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Monday, 12-Feb-2007 8:13:36

Like I said before, scrap the f***ing change limit all together! It's not that I don't think we should have it, it's just that some people, like myself, fall in to a trap if they make a mistake when changing their user names. I lost the end of my user name, Dumbledoresgirl through and through, when I changed it Oo, a couple of months back probably. You could up the number of times to five for premium members and three for standard members. At least that way, if you were to make a silly mistake, you had two or four more chances to change it before you were stuck with something that looks both weird and also bloody stupid.

Before your username is actually changed, a verification page is displayed which shows how your username will look. At that point you can either continue or decide not to go through with the change.
